Welcome To Jarvis Estate
It is said that great wine is made in the vineyard and it is this philosophy that Matt & Jackie Jarvis strongly adhere to when producing their award winning Margaret River wines.
The Jarvis Estate vineyard is located on Wirring Road in the Margaret River sub-region of Bramley. Conveniently located halfway between the townships of Margaret River and Cowaramup, Jarvis Estate truly is in the heart of the Margaret River wine region.
The estate is also just 15 kilometres inland from the Indian Ocean. It is this close proximity to the ocean and its two seasonal currents that stabilise the temperatures, creating a warm climate with cool nights, slowing ripening period. The Mediterranean climate with cool winters and a slow ripening season enhances the fruit driven flavours in all our wines. In addition to great weather conditions, Jarvis Estate is situated on some good dirt. The topsoils on the property are mungnite loams with clay on gravel sub soils.
The Wine
The Margaret River region, located in the far south-west corner of Western Australia, is one of the most geographically isolated wine regions in the world. However this isolation has been no barrier to the development of Margaret River, with the region evolving from pioneer ‘outstation’ to a place dedicated to the pursuit of great wines, great food and an exceptional lifestyle.
We are a wine region of superior growing conditions that are seasonally consistent with a Mediterranean style climate. In the years since its establishment as a fine wine region, Margaret River has grown and grown. Today there are over two hundred wineries in the region, producing around 20% of Australia’s premium wines from just 3% of Australia’s total crush.
